Hispanic Women’s Farming Proyecto

We are immigrant women learning about sustainable agriculture and business through growing and selling our own vegetables in Northern Colorado.

Proyecto

  • We are immigrant Hispanic women pursuing an opportunity to earn money for our families while learning about agriculture, soil health, planting, mulching, irrigation, harvest, marketing, and sales.

2024 was a great year for Hispanic Women’s Farming Proyecto!

  • Nora and Magdalena farmed individual plots at Fat Donkey Farm, supplementing their income with sales of vegetables throughout the community. Nora launched a new product, Make it Easy Ratatouille Kits, a big hit to accompany the always popular Make it Easy Salsa Kits.

  • Cilda and Rebeca worked with ten families in Harmony Village and Hickory Village to build raised beds and provide soil and seeds at individuals’ homes for growing healthy vegetables.

  • Jardines de Salsa in Greeley led by Marta and Juanita increased from five families to fifteen families! Each family grew ingredients for salsa—and many other vegetables, with kiddos learning to like veggies almost as much as cookies!

  • Larimer County Extension Service and CSU’s Small Acreage Crops Program provided four educational sessions. The more we learn, the more confident we are!
